I will be taking it to the dealer to getit sorted but does anyone have any ideas of whst it may be. Its noisest just underthe nearside passenger door ust have something to do with the exhaust?

read all about auxillary heater, then you will know about the noise and the trouble this item can cause. doesnt sound like you need a dealer though, its a normal noise to be had.

Don't panic, it is an extra heater designed to help speed up the heating of the cabin. Don't take the car anywhere near a dealer unless you really have to!

Maybe it's time to have an aux heater topic pasted to the top of the technical section or in the New Member Introductions section :D

I don't know whether the sudden outbrake of turbine noise posts relate to the fact that the newer cars seem to be much noisier than the old ones. I had a T reg car and it made the tubine noise, but the '04 model is much louder and it pongs of burnt diesel!

The newer cars are supposed to be quieter with the "improvements" made to the design over the past few years....

And another one who asks what the smokes for?

I have an 18 month old Seat Alhambra with the 130 TDI PD engine, and

very good it is too. However, a short while after starting, and before

it is warmed up, it is producing an awful lot of smoke.

Odd thing is it appears to be only at idle, and it smells like unburned diesel. It also appears to be coming from a contraption under the left-hand side of the car that has a couple of large pipes to it, and a small exhaust that exits just in front of the rear suspension.

Once warmed up it seems fine, and doesn't produce excessive smoke on acceleration, etc. Anyone know what the gubbins under the left of the car is, and what

could be causing this? Is it something serious, or a minor issue. I will take it to the dealer as it is a lease car and therefore I don't pay for the servicing :-)

While I'm at it, does anyone know if you can have the passenger airbag de-activated on these cars?

Thanks.
